Director of Asset Management – Housing Association

Compass Corporate Services were asked to recruit a Director of Asset Management for a market-leading Healthcare Real Estate Trust (REIT), as part of an overhaul to manage their portfolio of housing associations.

The nature of the role – working closely with key contacts of the housing associations along with Commissioners to ensure properties are up to standard – meant that CCS would need to source someone comfortable with being hands-on, familiar with managing portfolios of in excess of 700 properties, and be able to spend a substantial amount of time traveling nationwide visiting all sites.

As a result, a shortlist of 7 candidates were presented to the Board – all of whom had a social care background within real estate, had the enthusiasm and confidence to step into a challenging role, and were dynamic characters. Consequently, five candidates were interviewed for the first stage, before two were brought through to final stage – before the preferred candidate was identified and offered in under 8 weeks.

The successful candidate, Sean Corney, commented:

Jim provides knowledgeable and detailed insight for candidates on the role they are applying for, the company and importantly whom they are meeting. This is vital in putting people at ease in what can be a tense time.

He ensures that we are prepared for each stage of the recruitment process – I mention the word ‘we’ as he works in partnership with you in order to achieve the best result for everyone all round to place the right people, with the right company, in the right role.

Jim is persistent and really does pull out all of the stops to deliver a positive end-result, with honesty and integrity throughout. Trust is immediately gained with Jim, which opens up conversations and allows for a forward thinking recruitment approach.

This is refreshing for any candidate, but in particular, when you are looking to enhance your career prospects and take the next step up the ladder in to a senior role. He helped me move my career forward, and for that, I am extremely grateful. Thanks Jim – keep up the good work.
